Five Williamson Spring Athletes Named to USCAA's National All-Academic Squad
Five Williamson Spring sports athletes were named to the 2022 United States Collegiate Athletic Association's National All-Academic team. The honors were announced recently by the organization.
Leading the way for Williamson were seniors Ryan Fallon (SR/Bear, DE) (lacrosse), Anthony Umeroglu (SR/Wilmington, DE) (baseball) and Nate Yoder (tennis), along with juniors Vince Garyantes (JR/Wilmington, DE) (baseball) and Shane Titus (JR/Springfield, PA) (lacrosse). (Freshmen are not eligible for the award, as deemed by the USCAA.)
Fallon had a big year for the Mechanics lacrosse team, which made the National Collegiate Lacrosse League play-offs for the first time in four seasons. He took the bulk of the team's face-offs and was a quiet leader for the team as well.
Umeroglu was the baseball team's top starting pitching coming into the season. He ended up leading the team in several categories on the mound for the Mechanics.
Yoder was the tennis team's #2 singles player as well as part of the team's 1st doubles pairing. He also was a starter and one of the team's top players during his freshman year.
Garyantes was incredibly versatile for the baseball team. He ended up starting games at both third base and first base and also pitched on occasion. He also was a member of the Williamson football team.
Titus was not only a key starter for the lacrosse team, but he also was a key member of the football team. Showing his incredible versatility even more, he ran for the Williamson cross country team as well last Spring, where he was one of the team's top runners.
The academic awards for the five bring to 22 as the number of Williamson student-athletes who earned either national or conference academic honors during the 2021-22 school year.
