MEDIA, Pa. – Alexander Ashijan scored for The Williamson College of the Trades Mechanics, but WT was downed by No. 9 Penn State Scranton, 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
BY THE NUMBERS
- For Ashijan, it was his first career goal.
- Rob Wagner and Ian Farnan each had an assist. For Farnan, it was his team-leading fourth assist of the season.
- Williamson held a 7-5 advantage in corners.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Early on in the match, WT had the better of play, generating four shots in the opening 10 minutes, however, it was Penn State Scranton that got on the board first with a counterattack in the 12th minute.
- The Lions began to tilt the field in their direction and doubled the lead in the 19th minute.
- After weathering the storm through the middle of the half, the Mechanics found their footing and got off some good shots that required outstanding saves from the PSUS keeper.
- Williamson cracked the scoreboard in the 72nd minute when Ashijan scored on a corner that wax sent in by Farnan and moved forward by Wagner.
