Football Rolls to Senior Day WIn
MEDIA, Pa. – The Williamson College of the Trades football team sent out its seniors on a high note, closing the season with a 37-0 win against CAPP Academy on Saturday afternoon.
BY THE NUMBERS
- The running game was dominant for the Mechanics, who gained 208 yards on the ground.
- Leading the way was Carson Steinruck, carrying the ball 21 times for 120 yards and a touchdown.
- TayShaun Bennett rushed 20 times for 76 yards.
- Shawn Bedwell threw for 84 yards and two scores.
- Catching both touchdowns was Nathan Barnshaw, who pulled in five passes overall for 63 yards.
- Defensively, Williamson shined, picking off eight passes. Jesse Rios had four with Kesean Chambers, Logan Peck, Chase Witmayer and Raymond Wong intercepting one apiece.
- Wong also had seven tackles to lead the Mechanics.
- Tyler Brauer made six stops and had 1.5 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Scoreless through one quarter, Williamson took over on downs on the CAPP 32-yard line early in the second. Steinruck punched it in from one yard out and converted the extra point, making it 7-0.
- Four minutes later, after another turnover on downs, Bedwell connected with Barnshaw on a 27-yard TD pass for a 14-0 lead.
- The Mechanics would score twice more before the half. With just less than four minutes remaining, Rios intercepted a pass and took it back 20 yards to paydirt. One minute later, after another interception, Bedwell found Barnshaw again, this time for 21 yards.
- WT posted two second half scores to create the final line.
