Mechanics Fall to NJCAA Power Mercer County College

Williamson gave it all they could against National Junior College Athletic Association power Mercer County College but in the end their effort was not enough, as the Vikings pulled away for good in the second half in a 14-7 loss for Williamson.

After getting annihilated by the Vikings last year, Williamson came out strong early on and grabbed a quick 2-0 lead before Mercer came roaring back to go up 3-2 at the end of the first period. The started to exert their will a bit more in the second quarter as they went into the break leading 8-4.

Williamson however was not done, as they outscored Mercer 3-2 I the third period to make a game of it, trailing just 10-7 heading into the final stanza. Unfortunately for the Mechanics, they ran out of steam at the end and were outscored 4-0 by the Vikings in the fourth period to make the final 14-7.

Matt Gallagher (SR/Avon Grove, PA) led Williamson with four goals on the night, while Cooper Conroy (FR/Broomall, PA) added two goals and two assists. Shane Titus (SR/Springfield, PA) also added a goal. Despite the score, Jack Welsh (FR/Broomall, PA) had another big game, making 16 save in net for Williamson, which dropped to 2-3 on the year.

Williamson next hosts Rutgers Camden in a noon start this Saturday, weather permitting.
